The simple version
I believe in keeping things simple and transparent. Here’s what happens with your information:
- This website collects very little data: Just basic website usage statistics and your email if you sign up for the newsletter
- I don’t use tracking cookies: No Facebook pixels, Google tracking or other invasive technologies
- I don’t sell your data: Never have, never will
- You’re in control: You can ask me to delete your information anytime
What information is collected
When you visit the website
- Your IP address: This is used to understand which country visitors come from – though the exact address is not visible to me as Umami (see below) anonymizes this information
- Basic usage data: Which pages you visit, when you visit, and what device/browser you use
- No cookies: No tracking cookies are stored on your device
This information is collected via Umami Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service that doesn’t track individuals.
When you sign up for the newsletter
- Your email address: So you can receive the newsletter
- The date you subscribed: To keep track of when you joined
I use Buttondown for the newsletter, which doesn’t use tracking pixels or monitor when you open emails.
Types of links used on the site
- Affiliate links: Currently encompassing only Proton, these links may earn me a commission if you make a purchase
- Social media links: I link to Ko-fi, Mastodon and Bluesky, but these are just normal links that don’t track you
Why this information is collected
Information is collected for the following reasons:
- To improve the website: Understanding which content is popular helps me create better content
- To send you the newsletter: If you’ve subscribed, I need your email to send it
- To comply with German law: I’m required to keep some basic records
- To earn affiliate commissions: I may earn money if you buy Proton products through the links on this site

Under German and EU law, you have the following rights.
In the case of this website, they basically only apply to your email address if you sign up for the newsletter. No other relevant data is collected.
